A man suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and at least five suspects fled the shooting scene in a white SUV, according to an initial unconfirmed report.
The shooting in the Avenel section of Woodbridge was confirmed about 8 p.m. on Wednesday by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner.
The shooting occurred at 1:17 p.m. at an apartment complex at 300 Forest View Drive.
The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, they said.
The investigation is active and is continuing.
